Ordinary dancer, Lecturer and Cultural observer
Riana D. Sitharesmi (1973), an ordinary dancer, lecturer and cultural observer. She studied dance at ISI Yogyakarta and carried on learning contemporary choreography at Middlesex University, London. Her dissertation on Maruti & Djelantik’s Bedoyo-Legong Calonarang for the Faculty of Philosophy UGM drew her quest upon dance science closer to philosophical inquiries. She is now teaching dance both theory and praxis for the department of performing art education at Gorontalo State University, while she also conducting the research on dance and philosophy. Some choreographies created are Soliloquies (2010), Statuettes of Otanaha (2012), Srimpen Topeng Kusumojati Pitaloka (2015), and Story Line, So I Tell (2019).
